The Atlantic Corridor: Tracing Historical Memory in Accra, Keta, Lomé, and Ouidah

Africa Our Home (AOH) facilitates a profound regional study tracing the legacy of the Transatlantic Slave Trade across the coastlines of Ghana, Togo, and Benin. This mission-driven program initiates in Accra, where participants analyze the intersection of colonial history in Jamestown and the Pan-African vision at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

Moving east, we engage with the coastal resilience of Keta, exploring the cultural significance of the Keta Lagoon before crossing into Lomé to examine Togo’s indigenous heritage and national relics. The journey culminates in Ouidah, Benin, a pivotal site of the transatlantic era. Here, we offer a space for critical reflection at the Gate of No Return and the Python Temple, bridging the gap between historical trauma and the enduring spiritual traditions of the region. Through this program, participants act as partners in our mission to honor ancestral history and support the cultural continuity of West Africa.
